Description

According to data from the Department of Health, 30% to 40% of community-dwelling elderly people aged 65 or above fall at least once a year. In Hong Kong, a study showed that the rate of falling at least once in the past 12 months was 18%, of which 9.9% resulted in bone fractures and 31.3% in soft tissue damage.



Introducing a "super comfortable head protection hat" jointly developed by Japan's "Special Fabric Corporation" and the "Japan Automobile Research Institute JARI". The hat uses polyethylene beads with high impact absorption, good breathability, elasticity, and a hollow structure as the cushioning material for this series of protective hats.

abonet, a head protection hat brand with 30 years of experience in designing and developing welfare equipment in Japan's "Special Fabric Corporation", and JARI, a collision safety team of the "Japan Automobile Research Institute", have jointly developed this series of protective hats after years of research and countless human impact tests on various cushioning materials. They decided to use polyethylene beads with high impact absorption, good breathability, elasticity, and a hollow structure as the cushioning material for this series of protective hats.


Reduce the Risk of Severe Head Injury by 60%

When the head is impacted, wearing this protective helmet can reduce the risk of severe head injury by approximately 60% compared to not wearing a helmet.

Head Injury Criterion（HIC）
The term "risk of severe head injury" refers to the likelihood of injuries such as arterial damage, brain damage, cerebellar damage, brainstem damage, intracranial hematoma, and skull fractures.

HIC Head Injury Criterion
The HIC (Head Injury Criterion) value refers to the degree of damage to the brain or skull when impacted. It is used to evaluate the safety of passengers in car accidents or the head protection standards for children falling from playground equipment. 
For example, when the head is impacted with an HIC value of 2000, the risk of severe head injury is 100%. When the HIC value is reduced from 2000 to 1000, the risk of severe head injury can be halved. 
Abonet uses this evaluation series of products' impact absorption performance, provides customer information, and is committed to the development and improvement of products.



HIC Value Measurement Method
  • [Experimental Device]
The body part is an H-shaped steel, and the head and neck part uses a dummy (Hybrid 3 type 50th percentile male dummy) with a mass of 47.8 kg and a rotation center of about 1500 mm from the top of the head (average height and weight of a 70-year-old Japanese male: 1.065 m and 59.3 kg, respectively).

  • [Experimental Conditions]
The angle is about 15 degrees, and the height is dropped from a collision surface of about 900 mm (condition of HIC value = 2000 without a helmet). The HIC value is calculated from the acceleration of the head's three axes and measured at various product and collision positions.

  • [Attention]
Although Abonet can alleviate impact, it cannot completely absorb impact to protect the head 100%.



Instructions for use

The denim fisherman-style hat has hidden pockets on the top and sides, which contain movable cushioning materials that can be removed for cleaning. The surface of the hat is processed with photocatalysts, which can remove dirt, odour, and bacteria.

The inside of the hat is designed with a mesh for ventilation, reducing stuffiness and making it less easy to sweat. 
There is an adjustable button at the back to adjust the tightness.

**Abonet head protection hat cannot replace a safety helmet! 
When the law requires wearing a safety helmet, please comply with the regulations to ensure safety!
